Kim Parsell Memorial Scholarship
Kim Parsell was a powerful figure in the WordPress community. She passed away in early 2015.
The Kim Parsell Memorial Scholarship provides funding annually for a women of any assigned sex who contributes to WordPress to attend WordCamp US, a flagship event for the WordPress community.
Yoast Diversity Fund

The Yoast Diversity Fund will reimburse travel and accommodation costs for speakers, up to €1,000 per event.
To qualify:
- The applicant is part of – or identifies as part of – a typically underrepresented group.
- The applicant has been accepted as a speaker to the conference.
- The conference is a non-commercial event.
- The conference targets WordPress, via a Meetup or WordCamp, or Magento, PHP, JavaScript, TYPO3 or another Open Source community.
- The event is on the same continent where you live.
- The goal is to keep the ecological impact as small as possible.

When I started with this idea of walking to Berlin, I did not think about funding. I am away from home (and work) for about 30 days, and I have expenses like food and drinks. Also, I need to buy some stuff to make the trip a safe one.
So, I had the idea of having people donate and pay the trip for me. Hmm, that doesn't sound right does it? Maybe it's better to give people the choice to sponsor me personally, or donate to charity.
That sounds better, I am going to get attention by walking to WordCamp Europe in Berlin, and along the way I'll raise funds for a charity. But which one? Well that's going to be easy.
